Is Bajaj Life Term Insurance Good?

Overview

Bajaj Life Insurance is one of India's stronger private life insurers, offering term insurance, ULIPs, savings plans, retirement products, and other life insurance solutions.

Formerly known as Bajaj Allianz Life Insurance, the company is now fully owned by the Bajaj Group after Allianz exited. It currently ranks fourth among India's best term insurance companies.

Key Performance Metrics

  • Claim Settlement Ratio (CSR): Bajaj Life maintained a strong CSR of 99.32% for FY 24-26, slightly above the industry mean of 99.00%.
  • Solvency Ratio: Bajaj Life has a solvency ratio of 3.52x for FY 24-26, the highest in the industry.

Flagship Term Plan Offering

Bajaj Life eTouch II offers a sum assured starting at ₹50 lakh with no upper limit, subject to underwriting. It offers built-in features such as Waiver of Premium on Accidental Total and Permanent Disability, Premium Holiday, and Early Exit.

If you're searching for "Is Bajaj Allianz Life Insurance good?", there's one important update. Bajaj Allianz Life Insurance Company Limited is now called Bajaj Life Insurance Limited. Allianz exited the joint venture, and the Bajaj Group acquired its stake.

So, is Bajaj Life Term Insurance good?

For most term insurance buyers, yes, it is one of the insurers worth shortlisting. But let’s review it in more detail by looking at its plan offerings, strengths, and drawbacks. We will also answer who should opt for the insurer.

Bajaj Life Insurance Term Plans

eTouch II

Bajaj Life eTouch II is the insurer's flagship term insurance policy. You can enter the policy between 18 and 65 years, while the maximum maturity age can extend to 99 years (for whole life). The sum assured starts at ₹50 lakh with no predefined upper limit, subject to Bajaj Life's underwriting guidelines.

Key Features

    • Three Plan Variants: Life Shield provides straightforward term protection, Life Shield Plus adds an Accidental Death Benefit, while Life Shield ROP returns eligible premiums at maturity if you survive the policy term.
    • Terminal Illness Benefit: If you're diagnosed with a qualifying terminal illness, the plan accelerates the death benefit. For covers above ₹2 crore, up to ₹2 crore can be paid immediately, while the remaining life cover continues with future premiums waived, subject to policy conditions.
    • Waiver of Premium: Future premiums are waived if you suffer an Accidental Total Permanent Disability or are diagnosed with a qualifying terminal illness. The underlying life cover continues.
    • Premium Holiday: You can choose at inception to skip premiums for one, two, or three policy years while keeping the life cover intact, subject to eligibility conditions. The first holiday is available after five completed policy years.
    • Auto Cover Continuance Benefit: Eligible policyholders can defer premiums for up to 12 months while keeping their life insurance cover active.
    • Early Exit Value: Under Life Shield and Life Shield Plus, eligible policyholders can exit after completing 25 policy years and reaching age 60 and receive a refund of the applicable premiums paid.
    • Life Stage Upgrade: Life Shield and Life Shield Plus allow eligible policyholders to increase their life cover following events such as marriage, childbirth or adoption, a home loan, or a child's education loan, subject to prescribed limits.

Riders

    • Critical Illness Benefit Rider: Provides a lump-sum benefit on diagnosis of covered critical illnesses. The Comprehensive option can cover up to 60 specified critical illnesses, subject to the rider terms.
    • Accidental Death Benefit Rider: Pays an additional benefit if death occurs due to a covered accident within 180 days of the unfortunate event. Availability depends on the base plan variant selected.
    • Accidental Permanent Total/Partial Disability Benefit Rider: Provides additional financial protection following a qualifying accidental disability.
    • Family Protect Rider: Adds family-focused protection options, subject to the chosen rider variant.
    • Care Plus Rider: Provides additional health-related protection based on the selected benefit and rider conditions.

These riders can improve the overall protection, but we'd recommend selecting them based on your actual needs rather than adding every available rider.

Smart Secure ROP

Bajaj Life Smart Secure ROP is available for ages 18 to 65 years, with coverage extending up to age 85. Life cover starts at ₹50 lakh, while the maximum is subject to underwriting. However, this isn't a conventional pure term policy. It combines life, terminal illness, accidental death, and disability protection with market-linked investment returns. At maturity, eligible protection premiums are returned along with the accumulated fund value.

iSecure II

Bajaj Life iSecure II is a term plan available to ages 18 to 65, with coverage extending up to age 85. Under the Life and ROP variants, the sum assured starts at ₹25 lakh with no predefined upper limit, subject to underwriting, while the Easy variant offers ₹10 lakh to ₹30 lakh of cover. The Life variant offers pure protection, the ROP variant returns eligible premiums at maturity, and the Easy variant focuses on simpler issuance.

Diabetic Term Insurance Plan

The Bajaj Life Diabetic Term Plan II Sub 8 HbA1c is a specialized pure-risk term plan for eligible people with Type 2 diabetes or pre-diabetes. It is available between 30 and 60 years, with maturity up to age 75, and life cover starts at ₹25 lakh, subject to underwriting. Eligible Type 2 diabetics need an HbA1c level of up to 8%, while pre-diabetics with HbA1c between 5.7% and 6.4% can also qualify. Policy terms range from 5 to 25 years.

Superwoman Term

Bajaj Life Superwoman Term is a women-focused protection solution built around the eTouch II Life Shield base plan, so the underlying life cover starts at ₹50 lakh, with entry broadly available from 18 to 65 years, subject to underwriting and individual rider eligibility. You get life cover along with critical illness protection covering up to 60 specified illnesses, including women-specific conditions.

Who Should Buy Bajaj Life Insurance?

Buyers Who Prioritize Financial Strength

Bajaj Life is particularly attractive if solvency matters to you. Its three-year average solvency ratio of 3.52x is exceptionally strong and substantially above IRDAI's regulatory minimum of 1.5x.

Buyers Looking for Competitively Priced Term Cover

eTouch II is competitively priced across many profiles and was the cheapest option across all six cases in our sample comparison. It is worth shortlisting if you want a strong insurer without paying a significant premium purely for brand recognition.

Buyers Who Need More Flexible Underwriting Options

Bajaj has built unusually targeted offerings for different profiles. iSecure II can work for eligible buyers with unconventional income documentation, while Bajaj also offers a dedicated diabetic plan and Superwoman Term for women. At Ditto, we also rate Bajaj highly for NRIs because of its relatively streamlined processes and underwriting.

Buyers Who Want Feature-Rich Term Insurance

eTouch II suits buyers who value features such as Premium Holiday, Auto Cover Continuance, Early Exit Value, Life Stage Upgrade, terminal illness protection, flexible payouts, and multiple optional riders alongside basic life cover.

Conclusion: Is Bajaj Life Term Insurance Good?

Bajaj Life Term Insurance is a strong option for buyers who value financial stability, competitive pricing, and feature-rich term plans. Its high solvency ratio, strong claim settlement metrics, low complaint volume, and competitively priced eTouch II plan make it worth considering alongside other leading insurers.

However, Bajaj Life may not suit everyone. Buyers who prioritize the highest possible amount settlement ratio or prefer insurers with a larger business scale may want to compare alternatives before deciding.

Before buying a Bajaj Life term plan, compare the issued premium, policy features, exclusions, and insurer metrics based on your profile.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is Bajaj Allianz Life Insurance?

Bajaj Allianz Life Insurance has been renamed to Bajaj Life Insurance ever since Allianz’s exit. It remains one of India's stronger private life insurers, with a 99.32% three-year average Claim Settlement Ratio, 3.52x average solvency ratio, and just 2.77 complaints per 10,000 claims (for FY 24-26). Its flagship eTouch II is also competitively priced and feature-rich, making Bajaj Life one of the insurers worth shortlisting for term insurance.

Why did Bajaj Allianz Life Insurance become Bajaj Life Insurance?

The company was renamed after Allianz exited its Indian insurance joint venture and the Bajaj Group acquired its stake. The Bajaj insurance businesses are now fully owned by the Bajaj Group. For existing policyholders, the rebranding does not change policy terms, premiums, benefits, or renewals. Existing policies remain valid despite carrying the older Bajaj Allianz Life name.

Is Bajaj Life Insurance safe and reliable?

Bajaj Life is regulated by IRDAI and has a strong financial position. Its three-year average solvency ratio is 3.52x, while the latest solvency ratio stood at 2.66x as of March 31, 2026, comfortably above IRDAI's minimum requirement of 1.5x and Ditto’s benchmark of 1.8x. It also has strong claim settlement and low complaint metrics. However, no insurer can guarantee that every claim will be approved, so complete disclosures remain essential.

Which Bajaj Life term insurance plan is best?

For most conventional term insurance buyers, Bajaj Life eTouch II, particularly the Life Shield variant, is the plan we'd evaluate first. It provides pure protection alongside useful features such as terminal illness cover, Waiver of Premium, Premium Holiday, Early Exit Value, Life Stage Upgrade, and flexible death benefit payouts. Other Bajaj plans can make more sense for specialized profiles, such as iSecure II for certain self-employed buyers or the dedicated diabetic plan.

Is Bajaj Life eTouch II a good term insurance plan?

Yes. eTouch II is one of Bajaj Life's strongest offerings. It provides cover starting from ₹50 lakh with no predefined upper limit, depending on underwriting, and includes several useful features such as terminal illness protection, premium waiver, Auto Cover Continuance, Premium Holiday, and Early Exit Value. Its rider ecosystem is also comprehensive. However, compare its issued premium and rider terms with alternatives before deciding.

Is Bajaj Life Insurance good for NRIs?

Bajaj Life is one insurer worth considering for eligible NRIs. Ditto currently lists Bajaj among its top recommendations for term insurance for NRIs because of relatively simpler processes and easier medical underwriting for suitable profiles. Eligibility, medical requirements, premium payment options, and documentation can still differ based on your country of residence and individual underwriting profile.

Do Bajaj Life Insurance policies offer tax benefits?

Yes, subject to prevailing tax laws and policy conditions. Premiums eligible under Section 80C of the Income-tax Act, 1961 are now covered under Section 123 of the Income-tax Act, 2025, with the deduction available under the old tax regime up to the applicable ₹1.5 lakh aggregate limit. The death-benefit payout tax exemption previously associated with Section 10(10D) is now covered under Section 11 read with Schedule II, Sr. No. 2. Death benefits remain exempt subject to applicable provisions, while maturity benefits must satisfy prescribed conditions.

Is GST charged on Bajaj Life term insurance premiums?

Individual life insurance policies, including term insurance, have been exempt from GST since September 22, 2025. This means you no longer pay the earlier 18% GST on an individual term insurance premium. The exemption applies under the revised GST framework, although other charges or taxes may still apply where prescribed.
