Overview
Choosing a newer life insurer can naturally raise questions about its track record, product flexibility, and overall offering. ACKO Life, the life insurance subsidiary of ACKO Group, received its IRDAI registration in 2023 and now offers the Life Flexi Term Plan with a digital-first approach.
This ACKO term insurance review takes a closer look at the plan, covering its key features, available riders, premiums, track record, and important limitations to consider before deciding.
ACKO Term Insurance: Performance Metrics
- Annual Business Volume (FY 2025-26): ₹184.44 crore
- Solvency Ratio (FY 2025-26): 1.80x
Note: The above data is sourced from IRDAI annual reports and ACKO Life’s public disclosures.
At Ditto, we assess insurers using three years of data to evaluate consistency across key metrics. ACKO Life is a relatively new insurer, so sufficient public data on indicators such as claim settlement ratios is not yet available.
However, for FY 25-26, its business scale is also significantly smaller than that of established insurers. For context, Axis Max Life reported a business volume of ₹14,503.29 crore, while HDFC Life reported a business volume of ₹ 36,095.94 crore in the same financial year.

ACKO Term Insurance Plans, Key Features, & Riders
ACKO's current retail term insurance product is the ACKO Life Flexi Term Plan (UIN: 164N003V01). It is a non-linked, non-participating pure-risk term insurance plan designed to provide life protection without any market-linked investment component. ACKO Life Flexi Term Plan is the only term plan offered by the insurer currently, besides Saral Jeevan Bima, which is standarized across life insurers.

Key Features
Adjust Your Coverage
The feature allows eligible policyholders to increase the sum assured once a year or reduce it after the first three years, based on your changing needs, subject to terms and conditions.
Modify Your Policy Term
Extend or shorten the policy term as your financial commitments and life stage change. You can avail this feature once a year, or as often as the insurer permits during the policy term. However, any increase in the policy term is capped at age 70.
Choose Payout Options
Adjust how the death benefit is paid to better suit your nominee's financial needs.
Riders Available
- Accidental Death Cover: Pays an additional benefit to your family if the life assured dies due to an accident within 180 days of the unfortunate event, over and above the base life cover.
- Critical Illness Cover: Provides a lump sum payout upon diagnosis of 21 covered critical illnesses, such as deafness and blindness. This helps manage medical expenses and financial commitments. The rider has a 90-day waiting period and a 30-day survival period. Once the lump sum benefit is paid, future premiums are waived. Any premium paid during the waiting period is refunded without interest, subject to policy terms.
- Accidental Total and Permanent Disability (ATPD): The ATPD benefit applies when an accident occurs while the cover is active and results in total and permanent disability. The disability must generally continue for at least 180 days and be certified by a company-appointed medical practitioner. This period does not apply to loss by severance. Future premiums are waived after the lump sum payment.
Note: At Ditto, we recommend riders such as waiver of premium and critical illness because they can provide additional financial protection if a serious illness or disability affects your ability to earn.

ACKO Term Insurance Sample Premiums by Age & Cover
This premium illustration assumes a salaried, healthy, non-smoking male in Delhi (110010) seeking ₹2 crore of level term cover until age 65. First-year discounts are excluded. Actual premiums may vary based on underwriting, medical history, policy choices, and individual circumstances. For a rough estimate, you can use the ACKO term insurance calculator.
Note: ACKO term life insurance premiums are lower than HDFC Life, Axis Max Life, and ICICI Prudential. Additionally, the plan lacks modern-day features like premium break and instant payout on claim intimation.

Conclusion
ACKO Life Flexi Term Plan can suit buyers seeking affordable, flexible term insurance, particularly younger, digitally comfortable customers. Its adjustable sum assured, policy term flexibility, and complimentary will-writing tool add practical convenience.
However, from an insurer perspective, ACKO Life’s relatively recent entry into life insurance means limited public data on individual term claims, business scale, and long-term performance. This makes its track record harder to assess than that of established insurers.
Since term insurance is a long-term commitment, consider insurers with established claims experience, financial stability, and stronger track records. If you want broader features and proven insurer credentials, explore the best term insurance plans with advanced benefits.
